Coffee Could Lead to Heart-Related Death if You Also Have a Specific Condition

Coffee is a widely consumed beverage that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet in moderation. However, like any food or beverage, it is possible to consume too much coffee, which can lead to negative health effects.

The amount of coffee that is considered safe to consume varies from person to person and depends on a number of factors, including age, body weight, and overall health. In general, it is generally considered safe to consume up to 400 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per day for adults, which is roughly the equivalent of four cups of brewed coffee. Consuming more than this amount may lead to negative side effects such as insomnia, nervousness, restlessness, upset stomach, and rapid heartbeat.

Two coffees per day could be dangerous if you have high blood pressure

If you’re dealing with high blood pressure, consuming two cups of coffee every day will make you two times more susceptible to dying of a heart attack, according to researchers with the American Heart Association and as StudyFinds reveals. If you’re now wondering, “what exactly do you mean by high blood pressure?,” here’s the answer: at least 160/100 mm/Hg.

For the new study, 18,600 men and women who were between 40 and 79 years-old were observed. Otherwise, the same study found no reason to be concerned in the case of those who drink one cup of coffee per day.

Hiroyasu Iso, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., and the senior author of the study, explained:

Our study aimed to determine whether the known protective effect of coffee also applies to individuals with different degrees of hypertension; and also examined the effects of green tea in the same population,

To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to find an association between drinking 2 or more cups of coffee daily and cardiovascular disease mortality among people with severe hypertension.
