Unfortunately, having a healthy mind is not always easy, especially nowadays when there are so many stress factors out there. But thanks to Cody Isabel, who has a Bachelor’s Degree in neuroscience, we can now keep in mind several aspects that we have to avoid in order to have a healthy brain.
The Jerusalem Post reveals the list of 5 things, and here are some of them below:
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol from time to time might be fine, but binge drinking is clearly a bad idea in Isabel’s view. He says that alcohol can make us more depressed and even inflame our brains. That’s not a surprising claim, however, considering that a lot of other scientists out there don’t encourage drinking.
Poor sleep
Not getting enough sleep is bad for your mental health, and surely you’ve heard about this one before as well. But probably all of us take this one way too lightly. Isabel says, as the publication mentioned above quotes: “less hours of sleep equals less hours of life.”
@mindbrainbodylab Have you been tired a lot lately? This is why! Your nervous system is over stimulated. It has been on hyperdrive trying to protect you from every little eggshell that could turn into an irruption of abuse. I’m a neuroscientist who works with narc abuse victims. Follow me for ways to soothe your nervous system on your healing journey and reach out to me if you are needing more intensive help. You have got this! Be gentle with yourself. #healingnarctrauma #narcissist #narcsurvivor #narctok #narcabuse ♬ original sound – Cody Isabel
Sedentarism
Not working out or not doing any kind of physical activity is surely a bad idea as well. The scientist says that by engaging in such activities, brain inflammation would be decreased, and neuroplasticity would be increased.
There are tons of scientific studies out there confirming that not being an active person, at least from time to time, is bad for anybody’s health.
Lack of meditation
Isabel claims that medication can work a lot in the case of those who want to have a healthy mind. He recommends at least 10 minutes of medication every day, also saying that this is one of the easiest ways to calm your mind, decrease depression and anxiety, as well as lower inflammation.
