The CDC Labels Top European Travel Destination With “Level 4: COVID-19 Very High” Mark, Along With Six Other Countries

Europe is currently considered as the epicenter of the COVID pandemic, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a long list of countries labeled as “COVID 19: Very High”. This means that the agency claims that traveling to these destinations unvaccinated is very risky, and the list is constantly updated.

CDC’s list of “COVID 19: Very High” now contains France, meaning perhaps the most visited European country by those coming from abroad. France is now considered to pose a very high risk of COVID infection for its inhabitants and visitors, along with other newly added countries. Unfortunately, the upgraded list confirms that Europe is not the only continent that has areas reporting high numbers of coronavirus cases. Here are the countries that were newly added:

  • Andorra
  • Cyprus
  • France
  • Jordan
  • Liechtenstein
  • Portugal
  • Tanzania

There’s no wonder why France made it to the list since information brought by worldometers.info unveils the current situation that the famous European country is going through, and it doesn’t sound pleasant at all. France is reporting a lot of daily infections with COVID.

Over 40,000 infections reported over a 24 hour period

On December 5, France reported more than 40,000 infections over a 24 hour period. The country’s officials are now considering closing nightclubs and extending mask usage in schools, according to France24.com. The prime minister says that the recent COVID wave has put hospitals under severe pressure.

Worldometers.info also tells us that France is the fourth most affected European country by the COVID pandemic considering the overall numbers of reported infections, after the UK, Russia, and Turkey.

The CDC says about its renewed list of countries labeled as “COVID 19: Very High”:

Avoid travel to these destinations. If you must travel to these destinations, make sure you are fully vaccinated before travel.
