Top Ways to Try to Live a Long Life

The famous psychologist Jordan Peterson once said that one of the biggest mysteries of life is that despite the fact that we all know that we will die at some point, nobody seems to be affected by it. We should be tormented by anxiety because we are aware of the evanescence of our lives, but yet again, for some odd reason, it doesn’t happen.

We hate to disappoint you, but the chances that scientists will somehow find the secret of eternal youth are practically nonexistent. It’s impossible to survive death, at least in our physical form. But there are ways to do your best in order to increase the chances for death to occur as late in life as possible. Another sad aspect of life is that regardless of how great a lifestyle you have, without any harmful vices, nobody can still guarantee you one hundred percent that you will die at a very old age. But still, we need to do our best, so let’s go to the point:

Limit alcohol consumption

If you grab the beer bottle as soon as you open your eyes in the morning instead of the toothbrush, that’s clearly not a good idea if you plan to live a long life. Alcohol in excessive amounts can lead to many serious health problems, such as liver disease, cirrhosis, and even cancer. Being the lord of the drinks might be cool when you’re in high school, and when you adopt the “die young” lifestyle, but it’s no rational way of living your life. Otherwise, moderate alcohol consumption might be okay.

Don’t smoke

Smoking is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, which means that if you’re constantly hitting those cigars, you’ll receive the one-way ticket to the afterlife earlier than you’re planning. Quitting the habit of smoking is one of the best things you can do in life if you want to live a long life and eventually troll the planet when they ask you, “how did you make it to 100 years-old?”.

Have a healthy diet regularly

If you constantly have lots of sugar, french fries, processed foods, and fats in your daily diet, don’t be surprised if you kick the bucket too soon. Otherwise, you can opt for a balanced diet that’s rich in vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats, as doing so will likely make you live a long and healthy life. You will probably even pass 100 years old and tell others that the secret to longevity is kissing an old and dirty frog. Have some fun, why not?

Regular exercise

If your back hurts as soon as you get out of bed in the morning (and you even need a crane to lift your highness), or you can’t even open the pickle jar without throwing 10 cuss words, that’s a clear indication that you need regular physical exercise. Otherwise, you’ll find it more and more difficult to move your body around, and you’ll deal with much more dangerous health conditions later in life. In the end, you can guess what can happen earlier than you expect if you keep following that destructive path.

Get enough sleep

While sleeping at the job wouldn’t be a good idea, it’s still important to get enough sleep at night in order to remain healthy over the years. If you’re an adult, that means you need from 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night. Neglecting your bedtime just because you want to watch the glamorous Margot Robbie in the new Barbie movie is no good excuse if you care about your health, regardless of how beautiful the renowned actress is.

At the same time, you can’t sleep at your workplace and say that if your boss tries to stop you, he’s trying to ruin your health. That excuse won’t work, trust us!
