Meteorite Crashes Through a House’s Roof in the US

You might think that the Universe doesn’t care at all about our fear of meteorites crashing through our roofs. Well, guess what? You’re absolutely right! There are countless possible threats lurking out there in the dark and the depths of space, and you may never know when something terrible can happen. That’s because space is unfathomably huge.

According to Insider, a metallic object fell through a house’s roof in New Jersey, and the main hunch is that we’re talking about a meteorite. Luckily, nobody got hurt because of the event.

The possible meteorite was the size of a grapefruit

The metallic object in question was only the size of a grapefruit. But even so, a person can get easily hurt by it if it’s placed anywhere in its trajectory. If the object is indeed a meteorite, it could belong to the Eta Aquarids meteor shower. The Police also responded to the situation.

The event took place on Monday at roughly 1:15 p.m. local time.

Suzy Kop explained for CBS News Philadelphia:

We are thinking it’s a meteorite, came through here, hit the floor here because that’s completely damaged, it ricocheted up to this part of the ceiling and then finally coming down and resting just on the floor there,

I did touch the thing because I just thought it was a random rock, I don’t know, and it was warm.

Meteors are colloquially known as shooting stars and falling stars, and they enter our planet’s atmosphere every day. While most of those meteors are very small, as they range in size from grains of sand to small pebbles, they often burn up completely in our atmosphere.

The frequency of meteor sightings can vary depending on a few factors, including the time of year and the location of the observer. During some meteor showers, which occur when our planet passes through debris trails left by comets, meteor activity can be enhanced, which leads to a higher number of visible meteors.
