2023 Will Start With an Impressive Meteor Shower for Stargazers to Admire

Nature has proven to be very altruistic with stargazers over the years, as there are a few fabulous meteor showers that we can admire. There are several meteor showers that are known for producing impressive displays of “shooting stars,” which are actually small pieces of space debris, such as dust and rocks, that burn up as they enter the Earth’s atmosphere.

We can feast our eyes on meteor showers such as the Perseids, Geminids, Quatrantids, or Orionids, as these are the most impressive. Lucky for all of us, 2023 will start in big style, and we all know that it’s right around the corner.

Make room for the Quadrantids meteor shower

The meteor shower known as the Quadrantids will delight our view starting January 3. Thus, it qualifies as the first meteor shower of 2023, and you can’t afford to miss it if you’re a stargazer. It’s one of the most intense meteor showers to see.

Sheeraz Ahmad Awan, the General Manager of Dubai Astronomy Group, stated:

This will be visible from anywhere in the UAE; all you need is a dark location and you should be able to see it,

We have been a tad bit unlucky with the meteor showers over the last few months because one of the biggest light pollutants of the night sky is the moon, and on that day, the moon will be rising later in the night.

If you’re planning on catching a glimpse of the Quadrantids meteor shower, be sure to bundle up! It’s January, after all, and the weather can be quite chilly. And don’t forget to bring a warm beverage, some snacks, and a comfy lawn chair to sit in while you wait for the show to start.

But beware! The Quadrantids meteor shower is known to be a bit finicky and can be difficult to predict. Some years, it puts on a spectacular display, while in other years, it’s a bit of a dud. So don’t get your hopes up too high, or you might end up disappointed.
