A stir was created on social media after the West Coast spotted an UFO on Friday. Or that is what they thought anyway. A flaming object appeared in the sky around 5:30 p.m. and most people believed they are in the middle of an alien invasion. And it is hard to blame them, the object left a strange light trail behind, lighting up the entire sky.
The lights managed to intrigue everyone, and Twitter blew up with tweets from witnesses. A billionaire named Elon Musk had one of the most interesting theories after he tweeted that the object was in fact a “nuclear alien UFO from North Korea.”
Pictures and videos were then posted by many Los Angeles residents and almost everyone mentioned aliens as an explanation. “Is there a UFO in LA or what? Flying in tmrw and would like to be forewarned if aliens have invaded.” tweeted Brandi Cyrus (@BrandiCyrus).
The UFO has a reasonable explanation
It appears that all the alien conspiracies were wrong and the lights could be explained easily. The strange object was in fact space related, but it was an Irdium-4 rocket that was launched by Musk’s SpaceX. The launch took place 150 miles from Los Angeles, at the Vadenberg Air Force Base in California.
Funnily enough, it appears that people were warned by the officials about the launch and they were told that Southern California will be able to see it. For the skeptics who do not believe, there was even a live webcast for everyone interest.
Musk also explained that more “UFOs” are on their way: “If you liked tonight’s launch, you will really like Falcon Heavy next month: 3 rocket cores & 3X thrust. 2 cores return to base doing synchronized aerobatics. 3rd lands on droneship.”
