Healthy Salty Snacks That You Have to Try – Nutritionists’ Recommendations

Salt might have a bad reputation, but who can’t say no to some delicious salty snacks? Also, it’s better to just listen to your body instead of suppressing it.

Sodium is still great because it supports nutrient absorption, electrolyte balance, and kidney function. And if you want to be sure you’re getting the right amount of sodium, check out the following nutrient-dense options!

Olives

Snack some olives, solo or with a piece of creamy, delicious cheese, and you won’t regret it!

Olive oil is known for its super healthy properties, but olives are even better. They’re rich in both brain- and heart-healthy hats. Neat!

Pickles

Who doesn’t love some pickles? These versatile, greenish, delicious snacks could satisfy your salty cravings right away.

Pickles also contain some probiotics that your gut would really need from time to time.

Beef Jerky

Beef jerky is probably one of the most convenient on-the-go snacks if you’re a meat-eater. There are so many delicious options out there, but be sure to look for grass-fed, organic meat only.

Edamame

This snack stirred quite the buzz lately, especially among TikTok users. They seem to be everywhere, and that’s just perfect because edamame is rich in mood-enhancing folate and fiber!

Valerie Agyeman, RD, explains:

“It’s also a good source of soy protein, an option for vegetarians and vegans, as it is one of the highest sources of protein in a plant-based eating routine.”

Dried Seaweed

Seaweed is rich in iodine and an amino acid called tyrosine, which highly supports your thyroid function!

You can try some seaweed crisps paired with a hard-boiled egg, or just sprinkle some over popcorn and enjoy a healthy salty snack.

Salmon Roe

Salmon roe has a fishlike flavour that works best as a topping for crackers, toats, and eggs. It’s also high in a phospholipid form of omega-3!

Roasted Cauliflower or Broccoli

Probably not the most convenient option here if roasted, but you might be surprised.

Roasted cauliflower and broccoli will get a crispy texture similar to chips, but with added mineral, gut-friendly benefits, and vitamin.

Crispy Chickpeas

Another delicious and healthy salty snack is crispy chickpeas! Just roast them in olive oil and sea salt, and your cravings will be satisfied.
