And while traveling for medical treatment can sometimes be cost-effective, that’s not the case too often. But with medicine, there is a loophole you can find, namely ordering online from Canadian drugstores. Canada is known for being the polar opposite of America as far as healthcare goes, and naturally their medicine is also way more affordable.
All you need in order to do this is to have a prescription issued by your doctor. You can then fax or mail the prescription over to the drugstore, and you will be able to legally place your order. Be careful, some medications that are prescription-only in the States are sold over the counter in Canada, or viceversa, so make sure you know your facts before you order. Anyway, in both cases, you will need a prescription nevertheless. And some medicines cannot be shipped over the border even if you have the necessary prescription.
You are not exempt from providing legal proof that you need those meds just because the regulations in the two countries do not coincide. Try your best to always keep that in mind. Besides that, ordering meds from Canada shouldn’t be a problem at all. And it’s the smart thing to do, seeing as they are way cheaper there. If your healthcare is costing you a lot, at least you will be able to save some money on treatments.
