When you’re ready to get back into the routine of your nine-to-five routine, it’s tempting to throw in the towel on your diet and exercise routine. After all, there are conferences to attend, business lunches with clients, and deadlines that need to be met. You can’t let those things put your health at risk. And you won’t have to, if you make a few small changes now.
Here are five ideas for making your weight loss goals fit into the demands of your work schedule:
- Find walking buddies. Many people say walking is one of the easiest ways to lose weight. Find some others who want to join you, either in the office or outside during lunch break. Set an easy goal (like walking around the block) and hold each other accountable for showing up.
- Pack healthy snacks for work . If you know you’ll be tempted by vending machine fare or junk food at lunch time, bring some healthy snacks from home for yourself and/or share them with co-workers who might be interested in trying something new with you.
- Enter the 5-minute workout
If you’re pressed for time, it can be tempting to throw in the towel on exercise. If you’re looking for an easy way to squeeze some exercise into your day, try interval training. This type of workout is designed to increase your heart rate and burn calories quickly. Since it’s only five minutes long, you can do it at work or on your lunch break without disrupting your schedule. Interval training is just as effective as twenty-minute aerobic workouts – and it takes less than half the time!
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Not only is this good exercise, but it will also help you avoid getting trapped in an elevator with someone who has bad breath or really bad news.
