If you’re at least a bit concerned about the coronavirus that keeps spreading across the world, mostly due to the Omicron variant, it means you surely like the idea of getting tested as much as possible.
Free testing for COVID now becomes available after accessing a specific website, according to CNN. Therefore, the federal US government has launched its website where you can order free COVID tests: a maximum of four, and they will be shipped directly to the client’s house.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the existence of the website in question and that it’s running. He stated, as quoted by CNN:
COVIDtests.gov is in the beta phase right now, which is a standard part of the process typically as it’s being kind of tested in the early stages of being rolled out,
It will officially launch tomorrow morning.

This is great news, considering that it’s difficult for a person to be willing to pay for a test only after experiencing mild COVID symptoms. Let’s face it: someone who deals with a little cough or fatigue is a lot more tempted to just assume that it’s a common cold rather than pay for a COVID test.
A White House official explained the importance of the beta phase for CNN:
In alignment with website launch best practices, COVIDtests.gov is currently in its beta phase, which means that the website is operating at limited capacity ahead of its official launch,
This is standard practice to address troubleshooting and ensure as smooth of an official launch tomorrow as possible. We expect the website to officially launch mid-morning tomorrow.
Hopefully, fewer and fewer COVID tests will be needed, and the world will get rid of the Omicron variant of COVID!
