Patients of a Burlington Dental Clinic Now Need to Get HIV and Hepatitis Tests

Going to the dentist is a scary enough experience without the added stress of having to worry about getting a nasty, incurable disease as well. Unfortunately, that happens more often than we’d like to admit. And now a Burlington dental clinic has officially reached total disaster level, because over 9,000 of its patients need to get tested for HIV and hepatitis as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, it has been uncovered that the clinic has done a really poor job of sterilizing their medical instruments, and now some unfortunate people have to pay the price for their ignorance.  Needless to say, they’ve got more than one malpraxis suit coming their way, that’s for sure.

The clinic in question is called Upper Middle Dental, and is led by Doctor Vick Handa. Doctor Handa’s medical license has been suspended on the 12th of June, and then on the 16th the suspension was lifted. By the 14th of June, the clinic had been declared safe once again, but we can’t say for sure what happened to people that visited it prior to that.

The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario advises all the over 9,000 patients that ever got treated there in the past to get checked for AIDS and/or the HIV virus, as well as hepatitis B and C. Unfortunately, improperly sterilized medical instruments, are one of the main causes of such diseases and their spreading around.

So if you’ve visited Upper Middle Dental in the past, you might want to consider getting those things checked out, even though you’re not feeling particularly unwell. It’s better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to issues that pertain to health. And these diseases are nothing to kid around with, so be careful.
