Are you dreaming bad and are you restless in your sleep? Maybe you should consult a doctor. This could be a warning that you are having a serious neurological disease.
Generally, people dream every night, but only some remember these dreams the next morning, a phenomenon that researchers are still trying to explain. However, if you have a specific dream, it can indicate a serious health problem.
New studies show that people with intense nightmares may see a clue that there are some problems at the brain. People, but also some animals, experience a sleeping state called REM, which defines the time when your eyes move fast and you get a messy behavior, that means you start talking, yelling, striking.
Studies show that 80% of people with this problem will eventually develop a neurodegenerative disorder such as Parkinson’s disease.
A researcher at the University of Toronto believes he has found the cells that are responsible for our dreams, the REM active neurons.
Dr. John Peever and his team used these cells to control the rodent dream process.
“We have come to the conclusion that more than 80% of people suffering from sleep disorders eventually develop synucleinopathies, such as Parkinson’s disease and Lewy’s dementia. Our research reveals that sleep disturbances are, in fact, a warning sign for diseases that can occur 15 years later in our lives. Just as we discover people prone to cancer, diagnosing this disorder can allow us to provide people with certain preventive measures that keep them away from serious neurological conditions”, Dr. Peever confesses.
