Are Face Masks Better Protection Than A Vaccine Against The Coronavirus? CDC Director Says So

Daily Mail revealed not too long ago that the CDC Director Robert Redfield told a Senate committee that face masks are offering better protection against the novel coronavirus than a vaccine. More than that, he also said that the vaccine would only be available in Q2 2021.

Donald Trump reportedly hit back and said that the man must have been confused and that he definitely made a mistake saying that. He also said that he must have misunderstood the question that he’s been asked and that’s why he gave that answer.

Redfield changed his mind

Now, the same online publication mentioned above also noted that Redfield had walked back his testimony that marks work better than a vaccine after Trump called him out.

Just in case you missed the whole story, well Redfield told a Senate committee Wednesday ‘this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine’. He also said a vaccine wouldn’t be widely available to Americans until the second quarter of 2021.

It’s been also revealed that Redfield responded on social media Wednesday evening:

‘I 100% believe in the importance of vaccines and the importance in particular of a #COVID19 vaccine’.

The important virologist said that he meant that the best current defense we have at the moment are masks while a vaccine is not on the market yet.

He also said:

Social media was upset and a lot of people asked him to resign following the confusion that he created.
