The COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit the USA hard, according to what the country reports. There’s a total of over 50 million infections and more than 817,000 deaths caused by the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, as worldometers.info reveals.
According to a new article from CNN, the state of Michigan is dealing with its highest number of COVID patients that were hospitalized. The death rate is also very concerning.
COVID-19 is ravaging Michigan
Jim Dover, who is president and CEO at Sparrow Health System, explained as quoted by CNN:
We have more patients than we’ve ever had at any point, and we’re seeing more people die at a rate we’ve never seen die before.
Since January, we’ve had about 289 deaths; 75% are unvaccinated people.
But what might be even worse for the USA is that the country may not have reached its peak yet.
Dover believes that getting vaccinated for the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a great idea, especially with the booster dose. He added, as cited by the same source:
And the very few (vaccinated people) who passed away all were more than 6 months out from their shot. So we’ve not had a single person who has had a booster shot die from Covid.
If we take a look at the rest of the world, according to what worldometers.info unveils, the data is not looking any better. Since the start of the ongoing pandemic, over 5.3 million people worldwide have passed away after getting infected with the coronavirus. The hardest-hit country remains the USA, followed by India, Brazil, the UK, Russia, Turkey, France, Germany, and so on.
According to information brought by the US Department of Health and Human Services, hospitalizations of patients suffering from COVID in the USA have increased 40% compared to the last month.
