The sea buckthorn is a plant that’s being used in the food industry, as medicine, but also as an ornamental plant. The sea buckthorn contains twice as much vitamin C as the rosehip plant and 10 times more than the citrus fruit. The content exceeds 400-800 mg per 100 g of fresh juice. Other vitamins that can be found in the fruit are A, B1, B2, B6, B9, E, K, P, F. We also find cellulose, beta carotene (in a net percentage higher than that of carrot pulp), micro elements like phosphorus, potassium, iron and sodium, complex oils, etc.
What are the benefits to our health?
Sea buckthorn has great results for both medical and food purposes. The sea buckthorn oil is highly appreciated, being used with great success even in severe cases of thermal and chemical burns, or skin damage caused by exposure to irradiation.
Diseases that the sea buckthorn fruit can heal
Common colds/Flu – the sea buckthorn’s syrup makes true wonders in this category of affections, reinforcing primarily the body’s natural capacity, then preventing the complications of the flu by its bactericidal effects. Take 4-5 tablespoons of syrup per day, on an empty stomach, for a minimum of three weeks. Once the disease is triggered, take up to 10-12 teaspoons of syrup a day to nourish the body and help it defend itself effectively.
Hepatitis, liver cirrhosis – take half a glass of fresh juice once a day. In the absence of fresh juice, a good substitute is also the syrup (take a spoon 3-4 times a day, before the main meals). The treatment with both types of products can be associated with a strict vegetarian diet.
Atherosclerosis, vascular fragility – 1 teaspoonful administered four times a day on an empty stomach, helps maintain the health, elasticity, and integrity of blood vessels. The most spectacular effects are obtained by mixing a teaspoon of sea buckthorn powder, one of pollen and one of honey. Take 4 teaspoons per day of this combination. People with pronounced capillary fragility, for example, eliminated this shortcoming after two months of treatment with this preparation.
Adjuvant for serious illness (cancer, leukemia, plaque sclerosis) – the powder, taken 1/2 to 1 teaspoon before eating, increases appetite, stimulates the body’s strength and regeneration capacity. Particularly patients suffering from drug intoxication, who have restrictive dietary regimens, should take this cure.
Infectious Eczema – crush the fresh fruits and apply directly to the affected area, where it is left for half an hour. Finally, rinse the treated area and let it dry in the open air. On dry eczema, apply a protective layer of oil.
Rejuvenation of the tired skin – apply the sea buckthorn’s syrup directly to the skin and leave it for 20 minutes. Then wash the skin with a cotton pad soaked in chamomile tea. This treatment should be done 2-3 times a week.
