Health is one of the most precious things we all have. We must do our best to take good care of it, although scientists struggle even nowadays to find the cure for plenty of diseases.
According to BestLife, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reveals that one specific medication is being pulled from the market. The reason is represented by the drug’s potential to become toxic for those who take it and trigger severe illness, as it’s considered super potent. Even death could occur.
Specific lots of Lidocaine are recalled
Teligent Pharma decided to recall two lots of 50-ml screw cap glass bottles that contain Lidocaine HCl Topical Solution USP 4%. The medication is used as a topical anesthesic.
We can identify the affected medications by NDC number 63739-997-64, expiration date 05/2023, lot number 15594 or NDC number 63739-997-64, expiration date 01/2024, and lot number 16345.
The recall notice says, as quoted by BestLife:
The firm’s testing has found it to be super potent based on an Out of Specification (OOS) result obtained at the 9-month (Lot 16345) and 18-month (Lot 15594) stability timepoint.
The only wise move is to avoid using the medication anymore, and if you have it in your household, throw it!
Other serious health problems such as cardiovascular toxicity, depression, hypotension, bradycardia, and more could occur because of Lidocaine toxicity. Oddly enough, children and the elderly are more likely to undergo such symptoms.
When it comes to depression, it’s incredible how significantly downplayed this mental disease is. A lot of young people nowadays suffer from depression. DiscoveryMood.com reveals that roughly 20 percent of teenagers deal with depression before they reach adulthood. The same publication says that teenagers nowadays are more depressed than ever before, which is indeed alarming. New ways of tackling depression are needed.
