Delta Covid Variant Breaking News: New Data Brings Mixed Signals On Vaccines’ Efficiency

The Delta Covid variant is ruling all the other strains across the globe these days. It’s been already revealed that the Delta variant is the most dangerous one so far, according to more expert opinions across the globe. 

Some experts have already called it “coronavirus on steroids.”

Not too long ago, it’s been reported that the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus which is causing the disease Covid 19 is now lingering in 124 countries, and it will soon become the dominant strain globally in the upcoming months.

This strain is reportedly outcompeting other variants, according to the WHO, and experts have been working day and night in order to find viable solutions to the terrible coronavirus strain. Now, it’s been revealed that there are new data that shows fresh info about the vaccines’ potency against the dangerous virus strain.

Israeli and UK data bring mixed signals on vaccines’ potency against the new strain

Times Of Israel reports that there’s new data from the UK and Israel that brings more confusion and contradiction about the issue regarding the effectiveness of Pfizer’s covid 19 vaccines in fighting off the Delta variant of the novel coronavirus.

Epidemiologist Nadav Davidovitch, a Ben-Gurion University professor and leader of Israel’s doctors’ union, reacted to the figures reported above and told The Times of Israel the following:

“What we see is that the vaccine is less effective in preventing transmission, but it’s easy to overlook that it’s still very effective in preventing hospitalization and severe cases.”

He also added that this is extremely good in preventing severe cases and even death. On the other hand, this does not help very much in preventing transmission. He highlighted the fact that this is one of the reasons for which we cannot rely only on vaccination.
