Rare Dinosaur, A Galeamopus, To Be Displayed In A Cincinnati Brewery, Today

A rare dinosaur is scheduled to be exhibited, in the premiere, during a special event for this occasion at a Cincinnati brewery. The large skeleton to be exhibited is one of the only three existing skeletons of the Galeamopus dinosaur.

“Only three skeletons of this dinosaur are known and this is one of the best,” said Glenn Storrs, the curator of Vertebrate Paleontology, making reference to the great importance of the discovery.

A Montana farmer identified dinosaur fossils on his land, back in 2000, and brought the findings to the scientists from the Cincinnati Museum Center. Then, the scientists excavated the area for 4 years to collect every single fossil of what has been identified to be a Galeamopus dinosaur.

Afterward, more than 7 years were spent on the reconstruction of the Galeamopus skeleton.

Finally, 7 more years were required to examine the fossils and to make sure everything is in place for the major exhibition of this rare dinosaur of the Galeamopus species.

The rare dinosaur, a Galeamopus, will be exhibited today at a Cincinnati brewery

The Galeamopus was a sauropod, that is, a kind of dinosaur with a long neck. He was roaming the Earth throughout the Jurassic era, and most likely was a herbivorous feeding of ferns, plants, and other herbs.

Today, May 15th, the 15-ft tall rare dinosaur will be exhibited within a special event dedicated to its discovery, the “Jurassic Geist”, at Rhinegeist Brewery, in Cincinnati.

Those who participate in the event will have the possibility to see one of the rarest dinosaurs but also to interact with those involved in the unearthing and gathering the fossils, as well as in the reconstruction of the Galeamopus skeleton.

Attendees may also participate in a raffle rewarded with dinosaur-related traits and test the brewery’s latest brew, the Brittlebrain brew, specifically crafted for the special occasion of the exhibition of a rare dinosaur of the Galeamopus species.
