NASA’s Footage showed a Huge Asteroid that might hit the Earth next month

We have written this article to tell you about some recent footage released by NASA which shows that an asteroid could hit the Earth next month.

NASA released a video of the Solar System’s orbit and the things that we could see in the footage were pretty alarming. We’re talking about a very big asteroid set to skim Earth next month.

The asteroid

The huge asteroid is known as 2000 QW7 and the first time that NASA spotted in was in 2000. The last time that it was observed by the space agency was on August 20, 2019.

The asteroid is supposed to occur next month, on September 14 to be more specific. According to NASA’s calculations, its diameter is 2,132 feet.

NASA is not quite sure that this huge asteroid will actually hit the Earth this year. Its threat level is classified as moderate.

Elon Musk‘s opinion about the asteroid threat

The CEO of Space X believes that we are not prepared for an imminent collision, we can’t defend the Earth against these possible dangerous asteroids.

Elon Musk named another asteroid that is set to come very close to the Earth in the next years. The name of this asteroid is Apophis and of course, it can cause a lot of damage if it will hit the Earth. The asteroid it’s supposed to come close to Earth in 2029 and its classified as potentially hazardous.

However, according to NASA there’s just one in 250,000 chance of this asteroid hitting the Earth. Apophis is a big priority for the space agency and they will continue to observe it closely.

NASA is working really hard on the development of the Double Asteroid Redirection Test. The possibility of redirecting the asteroids will be a very big step in in the defense system against an imminent catastrophe.
