Police Officer From California of Almost 30 Years of Activity Resigns Due to COVID Vaccine Mandate

A requirement has been issued for San Jose (California) that employees must get vaccinated for COVID. As expected, there are a lot of residents who don’t agree with the demand, and one of them is Sgt. David Gutierrez who has been a police officer for almost three decades.

According to KSWO.com, the police officer chose to resign instead of getting vaccinated. Gutierrez had an amazing career, serving as a homicide detective, patrol supervisor, internal affairs investigator, and reserve officer.

The officer resigned as a result of his religious belief

Sgt. David Gutierrez motivated his decision by saying, as quoted by KSWO.com:

First of all, it’s my religious belief. I also believe I’ve been given a choice about what to do with my body.

Gutierrez doesn’t even consider himself to be anti-vaccine, as he explained, being cited by the same source:

I’m not anti-vaccine. I don’t tell people, ‘You shouldn’t get it.’ But when it comes to my body, it’s my choice about what I want to put in my body.

According to data brought by worldometers.info, California is the most affected American state by the ongoing COVID pandemic. With a total of more than 4.5 million infections and over 68,000 deaths, California takes the lead. The USA remains the hardest-hit country in the world by the coronavirus, and it’s now going through another massive surge that’s mainly caused by the highly contagious Delta variant.

Unfortunately, the high infectiousness of the Delta variant for COVID is not the only thing that makes it more dangerous. One study claims that the risk of hospitalization is even two times higher in the case of the Delta strain.
