Norway Warned Of Covid-19 Vaccine Side Effects Following Death Of Frail Pacients

The Covid-19 vaccines have been deployed all over the world, and people are getting vaccinated as we speak.

While most individuals don’t have any serious side effects, there are also cases that have been reported in which patients have suffered more severe effects.

It’s been reported that the Norway Medicines Agency (Statens Legemiddelverk Norway) has warned that those over 80 and the terminally ill may be at risk of fatal side effects from the Covid-19 vaccine after some deaths were recorded among elderly individuals in Norway shortly after receiving the inoculation.

Common adverse reactions and more severe ones

“The reports suggest that common adverse reactions to mRNA vaccines, such as fever and nausea, may have contributed to a fatal outcome in some frail patients,” says Sigurd Hortemo, chief physician at the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

In a press release, the Norwegian Medicines Agency said that as of 14 January, there had been 23 reported deaths that occurred shortly after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

Of these terrible deaths, 13 of them have been assessed, which concluded that side effects that are associated with the vaccine might have contributed to severe reactions among the elderly and frail people.

As a result, the National Institute of Public Health has updated its Covid-19 vaccination guide with more detailed advice on vaccinating the elderly who are very frail.

“All deaths that occur within the first few days of vaccination are carefully assessed. We cannot rule out that adverse reactions to the vaccine occurring within the first days following vaccination (such as fever and nausea) may contribute to more serious course and fatal outcome in patients with severe underlying disease,” the agency says.
