Elk Grove Was invaded by West Nile Virus

Recent news about some mosquitoes that carry the West Nile virus alerted the population from the Elk Grove. People are frightened because the virus is very dangerous. The worst part is that there are no remedies or any way of treatment against the West Nile Virus and the ones infected with WNV usually don’t show any signs of symptoms, so it’s very hard to tell what the real cause is. Of course, there are also exceptions, namely, the infected exceptions tend to experience fever.

This is the problem people and authorities are facing right now in Elk Grove. Authorities stated that the number of WNV carrying mosquitoes has considerably increased in the last few weeks. People have to use anti-mosquitoes sprays and other similar products especially if they are around the following areas: Laguna Boulevard and Twin Cities Road. They should also be aware of the fact that all the mosquitoes which have been trapped in those areas are carrying the virus.

Usually, around this time of the year, the areas are invaded by the mosquitoes. They bite infected birds and so they transmit the virus. Over 60 mosquitoes and 30 birds have been tested and the results turned out to be WNV positive. The authorities already have begun taking measures, the parks, and the lakes nearby the aforementioned areas are treated.

But besides the WNV carrying mosquitoes, some of the same species also carry another dangerous disease called St. Louis encephalitis. It is similar to the West Nile Virus and the ones who have symptoms experience fever, nausea and tiredness. WNV is especially dangerous to older people because it can cause brain inflammation and many other serious illnesses such as convulsions or paralysis.

In the aforementioned areas haven’t been reported serious cases of WNV infections but authorities still recommend people to stay indoors and use protection products when heading outside.
