COVID-19 Reaches the Spanish Flu Pandemic in the Number of Deaths From the USA

What seemed as “just another flu” at first slowly became one of the most terrifying scourges in the United States’ history. The COVID pandemic has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans since the first outbreak in the country.

Another wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has hardly hit the USA, and it’s mostly caused by the high infection rate of the new Delta variant. Automatically, the number of daily deaths had also increased significantly. All this horrifying scenario could only lead to another nightmare.

Over 675,000 Americans were killed by COVID, the same as the flu pandemic from a century ago

As The Guardian reveals, the COVID pandemic has killed approximately the same amount of people from the USA as the flu pandemic from 1918-1919 did, the one that occurred immediately after the First World War. According to data brought by worldometers.info, over 694,000 Americans lost the battle with COVID since the very first outbreak in the country. Hopefully, they left us for a better world.

As for the flu pandemic from a century ago, it killed 50 million people across the world. The impact was likely a lot more terrifying since the planet’s population was counting about four times fewer souls than it does now.

Celebrities aren’t avoided by the coronavirus, either. The famous American comedian Chris Rock has also landed on the list of infections recently, although the chances are high that he’s dealing only with a mild form. Chris Rock was vaccinated back in May with the jab developed by Johnson & Johnson, and the vaccinated ones usually don’t need hospitalization if they become so-called “breakthrough cases”.

As for the overall stats of those who died of COVID, the same worldometers.info page reveals that their number exceeds 4.7 million souls worldwide.
