The COVID pandemic has affected the lives of each and every one of us in one way or another. Except for the fact that millions of people died and others had to struggle with the illness, the world has gone through all sorts of restrictions and rules.
But when will it all end? While the World Health Organization (WHO) even believes that the coronavirus is unlikely to be eradicated, others are a lot more optimistic than that.
The COVID pandemic could be over in a year
Yahoo! brings some great news for all of us: Stéphane Bancel, who’s the Chief Executive of Moderna, said for the Swiss newspaper Neue Zuercher Zeitung that we may only have a year more to wait until the end of the ongoing pandemic. He relies his opinion on the increased vaccine production that will likely offer jabs to the whole world.
As quoted by Yahoo.com, Moderna’s Chief Executive explained in an interview for the newspaper:
If you look at the industry-wide expansion of production capacities over the past six months, enough doses should be available by the middle of next year so that everyone on this earth can be vaccinated. Boosters should also be possible to the extent required.
What about those folks who don’t want to get vaccinated? Surely we can’t pretend that they don’t exist. Bancel has thought about them as well, and said for the same source:
Those who do not get vaccinated will immunize themselves naturally, because the Delta variant is so contagious. In this way we will end up in a situation similar to that of the flu. You can either get vaccinated and have a good winter. Or you don’t do it and risk getting sick and possibly even ending up in hospital.
