Anti-Vaxxers and COVID Denialism Are Spreading and Can’t Be Ignored

There had always been sceptics about both the COVID vaccines and the disease in general. CNET speaks about these social phenomenons as they become more and more prevalent. People are scared that their freedoms are taken away.

In Australia, for instance, half of the population is facing lockdown. Even so, thousands of protesters went outdoors across major cities of the country to express their discontent towards COVID restrictions.

Those speculating about a resemblance between the vaccine and the “mark of the Beast” from the Bible are also present:

More than 100,000 people protested in France against the idea to require proof of vaccination for participating in indoor activities like the ones from bars, restaurants, and so on.
Similar protests also occurred recently in Greece and Italy.

Despite the massive protests, more and more Americans are getting vaccinated for COVID, according to Reuters.
Francis Collins, the National Institutes of Health Director, declared for CNN the following:

The silver lining of this is that people are waking up to this and this may be a tipping point for those who have been hesitant,

That’s what desperately needs to happen if we’re going to get this Delta variant put back in its place, because right now it’s having a pretty big party in the middle of the country.

According to Our World in Data, 28.5% of the world’s population has received at least the first dose of a jab for COVID. Furthermore, 14.7% of the population is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

COVID infections are seeing a significant rise in the US and in other areas of the planet due to the Delta strain that is significantly more infectious than the others.
