Fluoroquinolone Alert: Bacterial Infections Antibiotic Could Lead to Irreversible Health Conditions

According to the latest reports, it looks like a specific antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections could lead to irreversible health issues. Check out the latest reports about this below.

Fluoroquinolone alert

Lesley Yates, a mother and teacher’s aide, experienced a medical emergency in 2011 after receiving a regular prescription for antibiotics to treat a suspected urinary tract infection.

The aftermath of the incident caused severe tendon injuries, resulting in her permanent disability at the age of 54 a new article notes.

Ms. Yates informed The Epoch Times that despite experiencing symptoms, a number of doctors and experts dismissed her concerns.

This highlights the crucial yet underreported adverse effects that can be associated with fluoroquinolone antibiotics and the resulting medical issues that can arise when clear warnings about their risks are not provided.

“I feel like a 90-year-old in a 50-year-old body,” Ms. Yates told The Epoch Times.Fluoroquinolones, including ciprofloxacin (Cipro), levofloxacin (Levaquin), and moxifloxacin (Avelox), are powerful antibiotics designed to battle various bacterial infections—from urinary tract and respiratory infections to dermatological conditions.

Fluoroquinolones are a type of antibiotics that are highly effective against a broad range of bacteria. They are popular among doctors because they can penetrate deep into tissues to fight infections. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved them in 1980, and since then, they have become increasingly common. In addition, they require fewer doses than some other antibiotics, which makes them convenient for patients to use.

Fluoroquinolones possess the ability to disrupt bacterial DNA replication and stop bacterial growth. “Fluoroquinolones are fluorinated antibiotics,” explains Dr. Mark Ghalili, a board-certified internal medicine specialist and founder of Regenerative Medicine LA. “This fluoride component allows the drugs to penetrate the central nervous system.”

Despite their widespread use, fluoroquinolones are facing increasing scrutiny due to their side effects on virtually all bodily systems.
