FDA Warning: Weight Loss Product Has High Toxicity

Another weight loss product is addressed by the FDA. Check out the latest reports about a toxic product that has been widely used by people who want to lose weight.

FDA issues dire warning

People should be aware of an important warning issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding a weight-loss supplement that could have serious and even fatal side effects. The product in question is called Nuez de la India seeds, and it’s available in capsule form at many wholesale and retail stores, including eBay, Walmart, and Amazon. The FDA has cautioned consumers against using Nut Diet Max brand (seeds or capsules) or Todorganic Natural Products brand (seeds) products marketed as Nuez de la India because they may contain “highly toxic” yellow oleander, which can be extremely dangerous. People should become really careful regarding these products.

Customers who have purchased Nuez de la India seeds must immediately cease consumption and return them to the store where they were bought. A person in Maryland was hospitalized after consuming Nut Diet Max Nuez de la India seeds sold by the Miami-based OBC Group Corp. An investigation by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) revealed that the supplement is not made from Aleurites moluccanus, as previously assumed, but from yellow oleander seeds that contain cardiac glycosides. This is a serious health risk that should not be taken lightly.

Cardiac glycosides are naturally occurring steroids that have the ability to promote heart function and are commonly employed in the management of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. Nevertheless, the presence of even minute quantities of cardiac glycosides due to yellow oleander plant poisoning can result in toxicity, leading to irregular heartbeats, vision issues, drowsiness, and abdominal discomfort. The FDA advisory cautions that yellow oleander ingestion may cause severe or fatal harm to the nervous, digestive, and cardiovascular systems.

Symptoms of poisoning may include:

Abdominal pain.
Cardiac changes.

Official reports indicate that yellow oleander, despite being toxic, is utilized worldwide for ethnomedicinal purposes in treating specific ailments. Additionally, it has been implemented in agriculture as a biopesticide, fungicide, and insecticide. Certain researchers suggest that the disparity in yellow oleander’s toxicity to certain ethnic groups may be due to variations in human gut microbiomes.
