Tesla is one of the most famous American companies to manufacture electric cars and it has previously released plenty of acceleration models such as “Insane” and “Ludicrous”. Since then, another acceleration model has been designed, but this time it was not made for speed, but for smoother driving.
The “Chill” acceleration model
The new acceleration model introduces by Tesla is focused on offering a gentle ride, especially for vehicles such as Model S and model X, known for their quick acceleration times. Using the “Chill” feature, passengers who are new to driving an electric car can enjoy the ride and get used to it.
It is an important feature considering that the Tesla Model S P100D goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.28 second when used on “Ludicrous” mode. According to Motor Trend, no to other vehicle tested by them has achieved this performance, not even the Ferrari LaFerrari.
How does Tesla manage to create such fast cars?
Engineering Explained expert, Jason Fenske, explained that Tesla is able to create fast vehicles by combining three things: power, all-wheel-drive traction and advanced gripping abilities.
The “Chill” feature will help those new at driving electric cars, adjust to the difference.
Another new feature will automatically adjust the wheel and the driver’s seat so as to facilitate a better exit solution. Both updates might take a while before they are implemented.
The company offers three models of electric cars: Model S, Model X and Model 3. So far, the best selling model is Model S and it also won the 2013 “Motor Trend Car of the Year”, “World Green Car”, “Car of the Year” (awarded by Automobile Magazine in 2013) and “Bet 25 Inventions of the Year 2012” (awarded by Time Magazine in 2012”.
