Mike Hughes, one flat-earther from California, the US, took a flight on a homemade rocket propelled by a steam engine right from his home. According to him, he made his own rocket to test his abilities in that direction, as he is planning on building a more powerful rocket in the future to see with his own eyes if the Earth is flat.
Hughes’ rocket allowed him to fly to a height of about 1875 feet (about 570 meters), after which he landed with a parachute in the Mojave Desert. In the course of this extremely dangerous flight, Mike Hughes practically did not suffer any scratch, reports the CNBC.
After the flight, he said that apart from a low back pain, he feels fine and happy.
“I was tired of talking about the fact that I did not have the courage and that I did not build a rocket, I was tired of this, I pulled myself together and I did it,” Hughes said.
Mike Hughes plans to build a more powerful rocket to see if the Earth is flat, as he believes
The 61-year-old enthusiast, who works as a limousine driver, in order to make the launch possible, he turned his mobile home-trailer into a ramp that allowed him to launch the rocket at a vertical angle.
This homemade rocket launch pad allegedly allowed him to get the permission to launch the rocket from public land, which he had previously asked the authorities for.
For several months Hughes worked on his rocket in his own garage.
Mike Hughes believes that the earth is not round but flat, in reality. He actively defends his point of view in social networks but, in the future, he wants to build a more powerful rocket that will allow him to fly at higher altitudes to test his Flat Earth theory with his own eyes.
