Several camels have been disqualified from a Saudi Arabian beauty contest after their owners have improved their look with a substance called botox.
Hundreds of camels are presented at King Abdulaziz’s contest to be marked according to the shape of the hump and the lips. This year the jury disqualified 12 camels because their appearance has been improved.
A prize of $57 million is offered for the most beautiful camel. Ali Al Mazrouei, the son of the largest camel breeder in the Emirates, said the botox was used to improve facial features such as the lips and the nose. It led to the inflamed head of the animal, so when a camel was presented the jury couldn’t help but notice the unusual size of the animal’s head.
