Cold temperatures are around the corner, and a rise of the new coronavirus cases is on its way, too.
Health officials warned us about this possibility months ago, and countries are started to think that they need to impose other measures in order to stop the spread of the virus.
Justin Lessler, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, stated: “Our worry has been that we would see a fall wave, that we’d see a big resurgence in the fall. And that has really been something I think all of us in the public health community have been worried about for a while.”
As of Friday, the coronavirus cases in the US have grown by 5% or more in 38 states. There are about 55,000 new coronavirus cases every day.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a statement: “It’s still not too late to vigorously apply good public health measures, and again I emphasize without necessarily shutting down the country.” Dr. Fauci has warned about the daily numbers of the cases in the US – they are still high, especially since we’re also dealing with the flu season. This might complicate the actions against the spread of the virus.
Back in April, when the U.S has first started to understand what the pandemic is really like, and when New York was the one with most cases, they all had 20.000 cases per day. In the best-case scenario, the U.S would have reported less than 10.000 cases per day. Then the country wanted to reopen its economy, and the number of cases reached a somber number: 70.000 cases per day. Right now, we are dealing with 40,000 to 50,000 cases a day.
