The novel coronavirus remains in the spotlight, and it will probably take a while longer until we get closer to what we used to call normally. Various treatments and vaccines are definitely helping, although there are a few controversies floating around some of the vaccines these days.
Just the other day, we were revealing that CNBC just revealed that the coronavirus variant first discovered in South Africa is able to evade some of the protection of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to a new Israeli study which has not yet been peer-reviewed.
“Researchers at Tel Aviv University and Clalit, the largest healthcare organization in Israel, examined nearly 400 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 after receiving at least one dose of the vaccine,” the online publication mentioned above notes.
Anthony Fauci has something to say about the controversy
Market Watch just revealed that there’s a small Israeli study is showing that some of the new coronavirus variants may put people who have been vaccinated at higher risk of breakthrough infections.
It’s also important to note that U.S. health officials questioned some of the wording used in the preliminary research.
The types of cases are called “breakthrough infections,” these occur when someone who has completed their COVID-19 vaccination later gets sick from the virus.
The same online publication notes that the federal health officials on Monday downplayed the accuracy of the findings.
“That preprint, as it were, was about as confusing as you possibly could be,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor, said.
He continued and said: “It made it seem like you were more likely to get the [B.1.]351 if, in fact, you were vaccinated against the mRNA. That wasn’t the case. If you were going to get infected with anything, you would get infected with the more difficult variant, which was 351. That doesn’t mean you have a greater chance of getting it.”
Not too long ago, Fauci dropped a bomb about the virus.
