A new discovery regarding breast cancer is making waves in the medical world. The star today is Ivermectin, the controversial medicine that we’ve been recently addressing during the pandemic.
Ivermectin and cancer
The latest reports are showing the fact that the treatment with the FDA-approved anti-parasitic drug ivermectin induces immunogenic cancer cell death (ICD) and robust T-cell infiltration into breast tumors.
According to the notes posted in the journal Nature, “as an allosteric modulator of the ATP/P2X4/P2X7 axis which operates in both cancer and immune cells, ivermectin also selectively targets immunosuppressive populations including myeloid cells and Tregs, resulting in enhanced Teff/Tregs ratio.”
The same notes reveal that neither agent alone showed efficacy in vivo, combination therapy with ivermectin and checkpoint inhibitor anti-PD1 antibody achieved synergy in limiting tumor growth (p = 0.03) and promoted complete responses (p < 0.01).
IKt also led to immunity against contralateral re-challenge with demonstrated anti-tumor immune responses.
“Going beyond primary tumors, this combination achieved significant reduction in relapse after neoadjuvant (p = 0.03) and adjuvant treatment (p < 0.001), and potential cures in metastatic disease (p < 0.001),” according to the same notes.
The same article in Nature reveals that “Ivermectin has dual immunomodulatory and ICD-inducing effects in breast cancer, converting cold tumors hot, thus represents a rational mechanistic partner with checkpoint blockade.”
Checkpoint blockade1,2 has emerged as a revolutionary approach that harnesses a patient’s own immune system to treat cancer. We definitely suggest that you study the complete article in order to learn more about this discovery that could change the ways in which breast cancer is treated.
More on ivermectin
Last year, we were revealing that Fox News addressed that Joe Rogan confronted CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta over his network’s claims that the podcast host took “horse dewormer” as a treatment for the disease triggered by the novel coronavirus – ivermectin.
During the other day’s installment of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Rogan grilled the doctor on the reasons for which someone like him who already had covid and has antibodies should get vaccinated.
“By the way, I’m glad you’re better,” Gupta said.
“Thank you,” Rogan responded.
“You’re probably the only one at CNN who’s glad… The rest of them are all lying about me taking horse medication.”
