It has been revealed the fact that the COVID reinfection is a sign of weak immunity. Check out the latest reports about the matter below.
COVID reinfection
According to recent statistics, more than 80% of Americans have opted not to receive the latest COVID-19 booster shot. However, with winter fast approaching, they also want to protect themselves from getting infected or re-infected with COVID-19. For many individuals, getting infected or re-infected with COVID-19 has become a never-ending cycle.
But is there a way to break this pattern and avoid reinfection?
In a study published in October in Nature Communications, researchers from Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Oxford identified 71 individuals who had contracted SARS-CoV-2 twice out of 94,812 viral samples collected.
The study showed that those who recovered quickly after the first infection also cleared the virus quickly the second time. The samples were taken from members, staff, and associates of the National Basketball Association between March 11, 2020, and July 28, 2022.
According to researchers, individuals who were infected multiple times during the study period may have significant differences in their immunological and behavioral characteristics compared to those who only experienced one infection.
Although people may appear similar in appearance, their immune systems would look very different from a microscopic perspective.
According to an article from the Epoch Times, the immune system can be compared to an elite force of Navy SEALS, working tirelessly to protect the human body from viral and germ attacks. Interestingly, in Chinese, the term “immunity (免疫)” translates to “free of infections/pandemic.”
Our immune system is a complex network that is influenced by various factors, determining our strengths and weaknesses.
Genetics, malnutrition, inflammation, exposure to toxins and parasites, disease damage, and a malfunctioning lymphatic system can all impact our antiviral immunity when we encounter a virus.
During the Spanish flu outbreak in 1918, human challenge experiments were conducted by doctors in Boston and San Francisco. They deliberately exposed healthy subjects to viral secretions from Spanish flu patients through the eyes, nose, or mouth, but surprisingly, no one was infected with the influenza virus.
When we fall sick or have an infection, it’s an indication that our immunity is not functioning optimally, and we must be mindful of it. Our body sends a clear signal that we need to take steps to strengthen our immunity.
