Keeping this in mind, let’s have a look at some of the most helpful and interesting suggestions you may use either before or after breastfeeding:

1) Locate a setting in which you can unwind

Before beginning to express milk, it is beneficial to create a relaxing environment, as this assists with stimulating the reflex that causes milk to be released.

2) Make sure you pick the appropriate time

It is best to try and produce milk when the breasts seem full but not engorged. This is the ideal time to do so.

3) Applying warm compresses and massaging the area

Before expressing milk, preparing the breasts with a mild breast massage and the use of warm compresses will assist better increase milk production and make it simpler to empty the breasts successfully.

4) Make use of clean storage containers

Containers or breast milk storage bags that do not contain BPA are two options to consider.

5) The refrigeration system

Breast milk that has been freshly expressed can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but during this time, the nutrients will begin to diminish. Milk from separate expressing sessions should not be mixed unless it is at the same temperature. If you’re using milk from several expressing sessions, you should not combine it unless it is the same temperature.

6) Make sure you are simultaneously pumping both breasts

It is possible to reduce time and increase milk output by concurrently expressing milk from both breasts while using a double electric pump.

7) Keep the food in manageable quantities

It is recommended to only keep a tiny amount of breast milk at a time, between 2 and 4 ounces, in each container.

All these recommendations are backed up by Dr. Vandana Sarkar, senior lactation consultant at Apollo Cradle and Children Hospital, Chirag Enclave, New Delhi.
