Early in the morning of Saturday (about 02:00 local time), an earthquake jolted the southern part of Iran, leaving behind dozens of injured individuals and at least five dead, according to Euronews.
After the first earthquake that reached a magnitude of 6, two aftershocks occurred, having magnitudes of 5.7 and 6, respectively. The main earthquake also happened at a depth of 16 km.
Residential buildings got destroyed
A few residential buildings were destroyed by the quake in Sayeh Khosh, the hardest-hit village. Residents even had to deal with a lack of electrical power. Perhaps we can all agree that no person on Earth should lack electrical power in 2022.

Foad Moradzadeh, who is the governor of Bandar Lengeh county in Iran, explained as quoted by Irna and according to The Guardian:
All of the victims died in the first earthquake and no one was harmed in the next two severe quakes as people were already outside their homes.
The state news agency Irna from Iran, as well as the US Seismological Institute (USGS), confirmed the terrible news regarding the recent earthquake.
Generally, earthquakes reaching Richter magnitude between 6 and 6.9 are considered strong, as they have the potential to become destructive in areas up to roughly 160 kilometers across.
Some terrible earthquakes occurred in 2022 already in various parts of the world. Last month, we shared the news about a much stronger earthquake killing at least 920 people in Afghanistan. In March, another earthquake of magnitude 7.3 hit Fukushima (Japan), and it even caused a tsunami.
