“Filantropica” is an amazing and realistic Romanian comedy movie about the mafia of organized begging. Those who are apparently beggars and harmless only get a small percentage of the money they collect, as the “smart guys” get most of that dough. Pavel Puiut, played by the legendary actor Gheorghe Dinica, is the one who writes all of the scripts for the alleged beggars. On the other hand, Ovidiu Gorea, played by Mircea Diaconu, is a high school teacher who falls in love with a woman much younger than him and realizes that he needs to make more money in order to satisfy her needs. That’s how he gets entangled in a dirty game orchestrated by Pavel Puiut, where Ovidiu needs to play a very convincing role.
