Take care of your body and mind

We have to be aware of our health at all times. Especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. Many people have turned to a lifestyle that boosts their immune system, which is needed. However, we should not forget about our mental health. The brain is in charge of our whole body. Therefore, we need to take care of it by catering to it.

Ways to reduce the risks

Even though it is very cliché, eating healthy is one of the main ways to reduce the risk of getting sick. Being vegan still looks like a trend to many, but in all reality it is already a lifestyle to millions who are committed to it. From vegetables and seeds to legumes and nuts. The latter are foods that are rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Certain nuts, such as walnuts, are very beneficial to the brain. Fruits that are rich in vitamin C, such as kiwi’s and oranges, are known to decrease the duration and severity of a cold like the flu. Furthermore, foods that contain added sugars need to be avoided. It could cause obesity, which could put you into a life-threatening position.

Eating healthy is commonly mistaken for avoiding fats. However, there are also fats that are healthy for our body. Salmon and olive oil for example, strengthen the immune system.

Hydration

Though drinking enough water might not prevent you from viruses, it is of importance for your health in general. Obviously, juices and tea will keep you hydrated as well, but it is not recommended as they contain unhealthy sugars and calories. Water, however, does not contain any calories, additives or sugars and will therefore be strongly advised to drink up until you are no longer thirsty. For elderly people, the rule is to drink regularly even if they are not thirsty. Water not only improves our memory, mood and exercise performance, but it could also prevent kidney stones and the risk of bladder infections. Our body needs it in order to get rid of harmful toxins.

Avoid stress

Researchers have stated that getting enough sleep reduces the chance to get sick. Exercising on a daily basis strengthens the immune system too. Riding a bicycle, jogging, swimming and hiking are all beneficial and it is therefore advised by doctors to do it at least 30 minutes every day.

Stress could also be reduced by using CBD. It tells your body to calm down, which we all might need to be told.

It is very important to know that neglecting one aspect could have a domino effect on your whole body. Eating too many unhealthy fats, for example, could have obesity as a result and obesity could eventually cause life-threatening illnesses. The same goes for resting. Giving your body and mind the rest it deserves is needed in order to avoid stress.
