There’s another tech breakthrough that is worth mentioning these days. Here are the latest reports about quantum computing.
News about quantum computing is out
On January 6th, Chinese-based media outlet The Global Times reported that Origin Quantum Computing Technology in Hefei launched the third-generation superconducting quantum computer named “Origin Wukong”.
This computer is powered by a 72-qubit superconducting quantum chip, known as the “Wukong chip”.
As per a joint statement from the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center and the Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Computing Chips, this development is a significant milestone in China’s quantum computing journey.
The statement added that the “Origin Wukong” is the most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computer in China. It is worth mentioning that superconducting quantum computers, like the “Origin Wukong”, are being researched by several other quantum computer makers, including IBM and Google quantum devices.
According to reports, the “Origin Wukong” is equipped with Origin Quantum’s latest quantum computing measurement and control system, which has enabled China to perform the first automated batch testing of quantum chips.
This breakthrough has greatly increased the efficiency of quantum computing operations, as stated by Kong Weicheng, Deputy Director of Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center, in a joint statement.
Jia Zhilong, Deputy Director of Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Computing Chips, explained that the “Wukong chip” has a total of 198 qubits, including 72 working qubits and 126 coupler qubits.
A coupler qubit is used to facilitate interactions between other qubits, which are also known as working qubits.
Origin Quantum, a company established in 2017, has been a pioneer in the field of quantum computing in China. It has introduced first and second-generation superconducting quantum computers to the Chinese market.
The company has achieved many milestones, such as setting up China’s first quantum chip production line, developing the country’s first quantum computer operating system, and creating the first quantum computing measurement and control system.
Origin Quantum holds the top position in China and is ranked sixth globally in terms of quantum computing patents.
