Health experts have discussed the importance of vaccination ever since the first Covid-19 vaccine was approved for clinical trials. However, many remain skeptical, and some vaccination campaigns around the world are less successful than others. The U.S has vaccinated so far 49.3% of the country’s population, and the goal is to reach herd immunity. For that to happen, at least 7-80% of a country’s population needs to be fully vaccinated.
CDC announces that 90% of people who died due to SARS_CoV-2 infections were unvaccinated
As the infection cases surge across states, the CDC director announced that the fourth wave is unvaccinated. In the middle of this month, the Delta variant became the dominant strain in the U.S, accountable for more than 80% of coronavirus infections in the country. The CDC analyzed that 97% of the currently hospitalized patients are unvaccinated people, and they are the ones dying due to Covid-related complications. Dr Fauci has also announced that more than 99.2 % of zCovid-related death are in unvaccinated people.
All vaccines approved in the U.S are effective against severe cases of Covid
Reports show that although the Delta strain is aggressive, the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are effective against it. Although some fully vaccinated people get infected, they will not develop severe cases or risk dying. Most of them will have mild symptoms if any, and they will avoid being hospitalized and suffering from long Covid. Health officials want people to remember that although the vaccines have emergency use of authorization from the FDA, they still have plenty of clinical trials and studies to prove their effectiveness.
