CNN Shocking Exclusive: Xi Promised Biden China Wouldn’t Interfere in 2024 Election

Accoridng to the latest reports, it seems that President Xi promised Joe Biden that he would not interfere in the 2024 elections. Check out the latest reports about this below.

Xi addresses the 2024 US elections

During a high-level meeting between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden in November, Jinping assured Biden that China would not interfere in the 2024 US presidential election.

This assurance was reiterated by the Chinese Foreign Minister to Biden’s National Security Adviser during a meeting that took place this past weekend.

The meeting in California was aimed at addressing the historically high military and economic tensions between the two superpowers. This exchange had not been previously reported.

According to a source, during a meeting, President Biden briefly raised the issue of China potentially interfering in the upcoming US election.

Later, during a meeting between US national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the topic was again discussed.

Wang offered the same assurance that President Xi had given Biden earlier – that China would not interfere in the American election. The source claims that China’s potential interference has been a topic of discussion in senior-level meetings between the two countries in recent months.

“Those discussions signal just how fraught US-China relations have become, and how wary American officials still are of foreign election meddling after 2016, when Russian intelligence agencies hacked the Democratic National Committee and released emails to damage Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign,” CNN notes.

According to public US intelligence reports, there have been attempts by Iranian, Cuban, and Chinese agents to influence US elections since 2016.

Nevertheless, none of these efforts have been as aggressive as the 2016 Russian operation. Even if China refrains from interfering in the 2024 election, Beijing’s hackers still pose a grave threat.

They have already infiltrated computer networks in the maritime and transportation sectors, which grants them access to key US infrastructure.

US national security officials have publicly warned about this threat for several months. Such access could be used by Beijing to disrupt any US military response to a Chinese invasion of Taiwan.

According to a report by CNN, the FBI and the Justice Department have attempted to reduce the impact of the Chinese hacking operation through the use of a court order.

However, it appears that the threat is still present. It is unclear whether any discussions surrounding election interference occurred during the meetings between Biden-Xi and Sullivan-Wang, as the White House National Security Council declined to comment on this matter.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “China’s position has been consistent and clear: We always adhere to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs. US general elections are US internal affairs and who becomes the next president is up to the American people. China does not interfere in US elections. We oppose making China an issue based on election politics.”
