Dr. Anthony Fauci has been one of the most prominent public figures when it comes to releasing statements about the COVID pandemic, and he’s now reaching the top row news with another claim. However, this claim will delight most people, and it was pretty much foreseeable considering how health leaders perceive the pandemic in the present.
Dr. Fauci reveals that the USA is heading towards the end of the “full-blown” pandemic, and this shouldn’t surprise us at all. Less than two weeks ago, the head of the World Health Organization of Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge, said that there’s a plausible endgame to the ongoing pandemic in the case of the old continent as well.
We might have to make our own decisions regarding how to deal with COVID
Dr. Anthony Fauci told The Financial Times, as USA TODAY NEWS quotes:
As we get out of the full-blown pandemic phase of COVID-19, which we are certainly heading out of, these decisions will increasingly be made on a local level rather than centrally decided or mandated,
There will also be more people making their own decisions on how they want to deal with the virus.
It’s great to see that the severity of the pandemic is decreasing in both the USA and Europe, perhaps the world’s most affected areas by COVID.
While many of the current numbers of COVID infections across the world are caused by the highly-contagious Omicron variant, there’s a more recently discovered one that can spread even faster: BA.2, which is a subvariant of Omicron (aka BA.1). But surprisingly or not, Dr. Leana Wen, a CNN Medical Analyst, comes to bring some good news, as quoted by CNN:
Here’s what we know about BA.2. Given how quickly it has spread and even displaced the very contagious original Omicron variant, known as BA.1, in some places, this new subvariant appears to have an even higher rate of growth. There’s no evidence that it causes more severe disease than the original Omicron, which has been associated with milder illness than previous variants like Delta.
