The novel coronavirus is definitely here to stay a little longer. There are all kinds of new variants that are popping up and that are making the world freak out.
After the Delta variant, now Mu variant is making waves.
The Delta Covid variant is ruling all the other strains across the globe these days. It’s been already revealed that the Delta variant is the most dangerous one so far, according to more expert opinions across the globe.
This highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus which is causing the disease Covid will soon become the dominant strain globally in the upcoming months.
It’s been just revealed by CNBC that the World Health Organization officials said they are still trying to understand the delta variant.
Mu Covid variant
Nebraska is the only state in the US to have not detected a case of the Mu variant of Covid 19 – this could mean that the vaccines are becoming less and less effective.
Newsweek online publication notes that since it was first seen in Colombia back in January and it was able to spread to 41 countries, including the US.
This variant is prevalent in Hawaii and Alaska and it accounts for less than one percent of cases in the U.S.
Bit this does not mean that it does not have the potential to be more transmissible or resist vaccines and natural immunity have health officials keeping tabs on the mutation.
It’s nbeen revealed that there’s at aleast one case of the Mu variant has been detected in the District of Columbia and every state in the U.S. aside from Nebraska, according to Outbreak.info, a website that provides open source data on COVID-19 variants.
“The identification of variants like Mu, and the spreading of variants across the globe, highlights the need for L.A. County residents to continue to take measures to protect themselves and others,” Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of LA County Public Health stated.
She continued and said the following:
“This is what makes getting vaccinated and layering protections so important. These are actions that break the chain of transmission and limits COVID-19 proliferation that allows for the virus to mutate into something that could be more dangerous.”
