With each passing year, we get older. While this is not something we are generally happy about, there are ways to stop the clock and keep looking young. We have all heard how diet and exercise can help you look younger. Aging is a natural part of life, but there are certain things that can slow it down. This isn’t a lesson on how to look young. It’s about feeling young and acting young. And there are many small, easy ways you can do it. Here are some simple ways to never get old:
1. Stay hydrated – Your body needs water in order to function properly. Water helps your skin stay hydrated and plump. It also helps clear up blemishes and keeps your hair healthy.
2. Eat the right foods – Stay away from fried foods because they will cause premature wrinkles on your face. You should also eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains to maintain a healthy skin tone.
3. Use sunscreen – The sun’s rays will cause wrinkles if you’re not careful, so you need to protect yourself every time you go outdoors by using sunscreen on any exposed skin areas, including your face, neck and hands.
4. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Sleep is crucial for a healthy body and mind. Lack of sleep can lead to a number of ailments such as depression, high blood pressure, weight gain, fatigue and mood swings. So make sure you’re getting enough sleep at least 6-8 hours per night.
5. Stay social and make new friends.
“Social isolation and loneliness have negative health impacts on par with obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking 15 cigarettes a day and are associated with about a 50% increased risk of dementia. Simply taking a moment to connect with someone—even through a brief phone call—can reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and depression and deliver brain-protecting benefits,” explains Dr. Scott Kaiser, MD.
