In mid-August, the city of New York published a set of requirements and rules to stop the surge of the Covid-19 virus. This program is known as Key to NYC, and it involves several rules, depending on indoor and outdoor activities. This Monday, New York will use Covid-19 vaccine passports to allow people to benefit from most indoor activities such as dining at a restaurant, going to the cinema, or shopping.

The requirements state that all those 12 and older need to show proof of vaccination with at least one dose if they want to benefit from indoor activities in public places. Those who want to go to concert venues, sports arenas, museums, theatres, gyms, and other indoor public places will need to present proof of their vaccination status to staff working at the place they plan to visit. Businesses that will not check the vaccinations status of their clients will be fined.
What are eligible proofs of vaccination?
Business staff can check and ask for your CDC vaccination card, NYC vaccination record, and the New York State Excelsior Pass or your NYC Covid App. NYC’s mayor declared that several civilian inspectors would begin the enforcement to ensure that all businesses follow the rules.
Which agencies are providing civilian inspectors in NYC?
The inspectors selected are from 13 agencies, including the FDNY, the Department of Buildings, the Department of Consumer Affairs. The Department of Health, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation, the NYC Sherriff’s Office, the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and the Parks Department. Many businesses already had requirements such as proof of vaccination for their clients and employees.
