First of all, you need to remember that being an astronaut doesn’t imply only flying through space in a spaceship. You also have to do the work of a scientist, which automatically implies having some knowledge about astronomy and how those fancy gears work.
You need a degree
NASA says that you need a master’s degree from an accredited institution in a STEM field, and you’re in luck if yours is from physical science, mathematics, engineering, biological science, or computer science. You’ll also need to have some compelling professional experience.
The space agency also says that you have to be a citizen of the USA in order to be a potential candidate. As expected, you’ll also have to have good communication and leadership skills, as well as to be able to work with others.
You have to be healthy and strong
Being in space is no child’s play, as you need certain physical skills for it as well. Therefore, you must be a healthy person, as well as have good coordination, agility, vision, and the right weight and height.
