The Milky Way galaxy where we all live is one huge conundrum. Known as a huge cluster of billions of stars, including our own Sun, the Milky Way is the result of hundreds of millions of years of evolution.
Our galaxy was born 13.6 billion years ago, meaning not too long after the Big Bang itself, judging at an astronomical scale. It could host countless other intelligent life forms except for humans, as plenty of astronomers suspect. Or humans might be the only intelligent life forms in the Milky Way, which is also pretty frightening.
Either way, astronomers have a major announcement to make about the Milky Way.
The European Southern Observatory (ESO) will reveal new info about the Milky Way in two weeks
There’s a major announcement on its way about the Milky Way, and it’s coming from the European Southern Observatory (ESO), according to ScienceAlert.com. The news will be brought from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) project.
At this point, nobody has a sure answer about what the announcement will reveal about our galaxy, but we can surely expect to be some big news! The EHT project has been responsible for studying the core of the Milky Way for years.
Here’s another clue that astronomers are indeed preparing to unveil something big: on May 12 at 15:00 CEST (13:00 UTC, 9:00 EST), there shall be an online conference about the new stuff. A YouTube event will be held next, and six astronomers from various parts of the world will be involved. If that doesn’t sound like the preparation for a major event, we don’t know what else could!
If you’re at least a bit interested in astronomy, you know very well that the Milky Way’s core has a much higher density of stars than the rest of the galaxy itself. Focusing on that region can only be beneficial, and we can’t wait for the mystery to be unveiled! Stay tuned!
