COVID-19 Mostly Affects Men, And Children Don’t Present Same Symptoms As Adults Do

From a new report, we find out that the new coronavirus symptoms are less likely to occur in children than they do for adults. However, among people, the most prone to get the virus are boys and men, rather than girls and women. The source of the article comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The COVID-19 study underlines that children are not likely to develop the symptoms characteristic for the deadly virus such as dry cough, fever, or shortness of breath. The data that support this analysis originates from China.

This study was realized with the cooperation of 150.000 patients with COVID-19. The results are showing that only 73% of the children had the characteristic symptoms, compared to 93% of the adults. However, there are some exceptions to the rule. In this case, only some of the children needed hospitalization because they developed severe consequences. Among the adults, 33% of them required medical care.

Men and boys get COVID-19 much easier than women and young girls

In addition to this, several other studies demonstrate that the infection in infants can cause even more devastating results than it does when it comes to older children. The good news is that the percentage of kids infected with the deadly virus is reduced compared to the one of adults. The 150.000 confirmed cases that were the basis of this research are showing that only 1.7% of this number was represented by children.

However, the boys are more likely to develop symptoms, since 57% of the cases in the small ones were represented by males. Consequently, the research is demonstrating that it is not the age that is highly susceptible to COVID-19, but the gender – They are men, in general. Additionally, the studies are showing that even the fatality rate is dominant with male victims of the illness. The conclusions of the research are stating that regardless of age, isolation, and reducing the social contact is crucial in stopping the spreading of this novel coronavirus.

    1. Hello Dahlene,

Typically, the COVID-19 symptoms are the same for young children and adults, and they include cough, fever, tiredness, difficulty in breathing (in some severe cases), according to the WHO. Now, in rare situations, the symptoms might also include vomiting and diarrhea.

Runny nose and cold-like symptoms were also reported in kids, as per the CDC. Also, the CDC warns that parents should keep an eye on children with existing medical conditions since they are more likely to develop severe consequences caused by COVID-19 (if they get infected with the new coronavirus).

Besides, there is no change in the skin pigmentation due to COVID-19! I repeat, there are no different symptoms between men and women (young children or adults). They are the same for any person in the world. As the article above says, indeed, children and women are less affected by the new coronavirus. That’s only a statistic, and it’s not based on a scientific explanation (at least, not at the moment).

Hopefully, my reply was helpful to you. Sincerely,
