We keep hearing recommendations to not eat large dairy products in large quantities as they expose our hearts to various diseases. However, a recent study has been published in the UK that seems to disprove this notion and has generated debates over the benefits and problems of it.
This study has been done by researchers at Reading University in the UK with help from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Denmark’s Copenhagen University. The result of their study suggests that saturated fat, and subsequently dairy fat does not contribute in cardiovascular diseases. However, reports show that health experts are not completely convinced by this study and urge people to not take this study as an excuse to over-eat saturated fats.
The combined research effort started by examining previous studies about this subject. A total of 29 former studies, with over 900,000 participants in them, has been carried out in the timeframe of about 35 years. Despite these extensive studies, they have not been able to find any connection between dairy products and potential heart diseases.
On the contrary, they have found that it can be quite beneficial to a person’s health. Apparently, dairy products that are fermented help in prevent cardiovascular disease to some extent. The British scientists stated that not consuming dairy products will have damaging effects on a person’s health. This can be seen in how some misinformed parents do not feed their children with milk that is rich in fat and this results in them having calcium deficiencies. Besides this, pregnant women also avoid consuming dairy products for the same reason and this also negatively affects the babies in the wombs. The lack of milk will cause the babies to be exposed to various neurological-based disorders while they are still in the womb.
